Stuck in the house

Well Ernesto seemed to lose its power by the time it hit my house but we still saw a hurricane.
Seems being locked in the house with a nervous black lab, a restless husband an three kids full of energy is enough to totally destroy a house. Needless to say today will be spent in full recovery mode. Thankfully everyone is now back were they belong-- school and work-- and I have the house all to myself to tackle the job!
With all the time indoors, that ugly fan finally made it on my ceiling and the package to my sister made it out the door and into Greg's car to be mailed! So that knocked off two of the ten things that needed to be done.

Preparations underway

Our first visitor is coming. Now I would have hoped it was going to be family that would visit first, but it seems that Ernesto is on its way to greet us. Yesterday I was busy getting the gas tanks filled, getting money and groceries and doing laundry (they are not folded but everything is clean!). Today will be spent bringing in lawn furniture, the swing set that still is not built and the basketball hoop as well as putting up the shutters on the windows. All this will take place when my husband gets home though since I am not sure where it is all going to fit. Come to find out, his job entails more than we had thought being the safety officer for the Air Force Base. We thought it was primarily working with the space launches but it seems he is busy during all events that need safety. It is good that I am learning this now and that Ernesto is not going to be a major storm because I have a feeling I will be in charge of getting the house battened down in the future since he has not been home much in the last couple of days!

The things you find....

...When you clean your car.
Confetti poppers from New Years Eve, map of Purdue University when we visited in October, stuffed animals that are claimed to be our favorite, (if they were really our favorite and we just are not too lazy to bring them in wouldn't it have gotten a place of honor on the bed???) marbles, wheels to some random toy, Legos, magnifying glass, crayons- some a bit soft from the Florida sun, five books, two coloring books, Kleenex box full and unopened, Kleenex box empty, various snack papers, two water bottles, Gameboy game that we have been searching for, lots of sand, gum stuck to the side of the van.... and the list goes on. But I did make 47 cents and find my sister's CD that she left in my car when she visited us in CO a long time ago. I guess I will add that to her package since it is still sitting in my livingroom.
Now that my car is clean my rule is what you bring in you take out! So far it has stayed clean for 2 days!

Ten things that need to be done before I feel I am moved in!

1. Put away all my scrapbooking stuff. (Right now they are laying in the corner next to where they need to go)
2. Make my daughters bed skirt and curtains
3. Put curtains in the boys room
4. Hang a shelf in the laundry room so that everytime I need detergent I don't have to run to the garage
5. change my cell phone to a local number
6. Get rid of the box that has all the things in it the movers damaged
7. Get rid of the fan my husband will never hang because I think it is ugly
8. Hang a basic light in the place of where he wants the ugly fan!
9. Mail my sister the big box that is going to cost a fortune to get out of my house
10. Be able to sit without thinking of all the things that need to be done before I feel that I am moved in
